At TMMC, our commitment to quality stretches beyond the vehicles we build to encompass the communities where we work and live. Every year, Team Members not only volunteer their own time, but also take part in the selection of charitable groups and projects that TMMC supports through donations. Last year, more than 180 charitable groups and organizations received our support.
Here, we highlight a few of the many causes we contribute to each year. We’ll feature more in the coming months. If you are interested in requesting TMMC’s support, please download the PDF, which outlines our corporate contribution information.
Sakura House
Part of TMMC's Woodstock land acquisition for the West Plant held one of the finest homes in Ontario. TMMC chose not only to leave the building standing, but also to donate it to the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) to operate as a hospice—the first and only residential hospice in Oxford Country. From 2006 to 2009, TMMC covered all the carrying costs of the properly while the VON undertook other fundraising efforts. In August 2009, the hospice opened and now provides much appreciated quality support and end of life care in the region.
Community Support
One of the most personal ways that TMMC Team Members can give back is by sharing their time and effort with the community. In May 2011, our plants experienced a production slow-down as a result of the Earthquake and Tsunami disasters in Japan and the resulting parts shortage. While this was a very challenging time, it also presented some opportunities for TMMC and our community. The Community Support Program was launched and groups of Team Members enthusiastically tackled projects like repainting the 7.2 acre fence at Sakura House in Woodstock and doing some cleaning up and planting over 3000 trees for the Grand River Conversation Authority in Cambridge. As you can see by the photos, the experience was very rewarding for the Team Members who participated.
Habitat for Humanity House
Every year, TMMC Team Members organize a number of special fundraising events. In 2010, they met the target of 50 percent of the funds necessary to construct a Habitat for Humanity house. In 2011, TMMC as an organization will also play an active role—donating the funds for an additional Habitat home and helping Team Members put together a build team to take part in the actual construction.
